Spire Aztec

Spire Aztec – Bristol

A key aspect of this was navigating public engagement, which included presenting the plans to local residents.

With the structure prepared, the team then facilitated the construction of two intricate 3-meter-thick concrete structures at ground floor level. These “mazes” were meticulously designed to safely house the Elekta treatment machines, which are advanced, high-energy radiation devices critical for oncology therapies. The construction demanded precision and careful adherence to safety protocols due to the nature of the equipment.

The scheme transformed a former office headquarters into a modern Oncology Centre, requiring careful design coordination and management of a complex planning process. Our involvement included public engagement, presenting proposals to local residents, and ensuring the design met clinical and technical needs. By retaining the existing foundations and steel frame, the project minimised cost and programme, before constructing two highly specialised 3-metre-thick concrete “mazes” to accommodate Elekta high-energy radiation treatment equipment.
